August 24: JOY comes in the morning!

Hi friends! Can you believe we are already halfway through the year!? Amongst the beautiful chaos that life has been here, we can see God’s grace and hand upon us. We consider it pure JOY!

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kids, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

James 1.2-4

Read below a quick update about what’s been happening in the life of Joshua Care:

TYPHOONS

July is wet season in the Philippines with typhoons bringing heavy rains and floods to the already vulnerable people who can’t afford good housing. We were able to provide help to the surrounding communities of Joshua Care. Lots of these people homes were under water, and we’ve been able to bless them and may more with school supplies, food packs, fresh water, shoes, plastic tubs to wash their belongings..all through the generosity of people like you! None of this is possible on our own, but together we are making a difference, through the Mighty Name of Jesus! If you would like to donate, you still can as the need is still great! Just donate and note that your donation is for “flood relief”.

MANDELA DAY

What an incredible day we had celebrating Mandela Day with the South African Embassy and their partners. So honoured to be chosen as the humanitarian foundation to host this year.

We gathered together to remember and honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela. So many partners and businesses gave generously to make this day possible..all to bless the beautiful kids and community that is Joshua Care 🤎

We had sooo much fun! We had food carts with hot dogs, ice tea, donuts and everyone went home with SO MANY GIFTS! Soft toys, school supplies, vouchers and food hampers!! We are so thankful!! AND after the event we had so much stuff left over which we were able to give away to hundreds of families.

BACK TO SCHOOL

The children are excited going back to school with new books and bags etc. This batch of kids are all now in high school except for Eroll and Cerilyn is in her third year of University. She is looking forward to graduating in Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. We wish them all the best for the new school year. JCI has 69 community students attending Mount Moriah Christian Academy. The toddlers are all enjoying educational activities with Kate & Jerica and they are also progressing well in their developmental stages.

MEDICAL NEEDS

Baby Liam is a premature baby in the Neonatal unit with complications due to his prematurity. His parents are asking for support as the hospital bill is extremely high. They sold their house and paid the hospital but still the money was not enough to cover his expenses. Please pray for the family and their little baby. Pray healing for baby Liam and if you can help please donate to Medical support at www.joshuacare.org/donate

Bryelle  is 5 years old and his mother comes often to JCI asking for help. This little boy has brain cancer and he is on his third dose of Chemotherapy. He is attending the public hospital where they don’t have to pay for the bed but they still need to buy the medicines, IV lines and dressings etc

JOY COMES IN THE MORNING

Despite many challenges since we returned to Philippines, the Lord has blessed us continually. Santi, Josiah and Gracie were all sick with high fevers and we thank you for your prayers. God is faithful and we have all recovered from the illness. Sadly, Jhamica ran away a few weeks ago and we are concerned for her safety. Please pray that we can find her as she was very confused and depressed at the time. Her brothers have taken her away and we are praying God’s hand of protection over her. The local authorities are helping us to find her and we pray the Lord will reveal her whereabouts so that we can get her the help and counselling that she needs. Please continue to stand with us for Jhamaica.

We’ve had to hire several new staff to raise the safety and protection of the children. We have a new full time guard; house parents and admin staff and we are excited for what God will do. I believe the Lord is doing a new thing! We have vision to raise the standard of care for the Joshua Care kids. Kate comes over to spend time with the toddlers, teaching them with fun and interactive games. Eden is working in the office doing admin  and managment with me and helping to develop the new staff and building kingdom culture. Erlinda has left the team and we are now restructuring.

We thank God for what he is doing. And we thank God for you! There is excitement on the horizon.

Being a voice for the voiceless.

This is the heart of Joshua Care International.

This is what we are doing TOGETHER.

Together we are making a difference.
