Joshua Care International to the RESCUE in News
At the end of September 2006 typhoon Milenio struck the Philippines with force cutting directly through the Tagiug area of Manila. Over 67 people died in the local area with many more dying throughout the Philippines due to the storm and landslides. Many homes and city infrastructure was destroyed with power and basic services not restored in some places for over a week.
The JCI staff and Mt. Moriah leaders deployed five parallel assessment teams to make in depth assessments in typhoon ravaged metro manila, including Coco hills, Rocky side, Marcelo, Graveyard and Quezon of Taguig City. The teams which consisted of a Pastoral care team (headed by Gilbert Bucal), 12 Leaders (headed by Ptr Bhal Tatlonghari, and JCI staff (headed by Israel Forbes) made an assessment of the relief areas to assess the damage and identify needs in the affected Communities.
More than 75 families were given kilos of rice and helped with cleanup and rebuilding from the damage caused by ‘Typhoon Milenio’ including some of the families of JCI scholars.
A very big thank you is extended to all of the JCI and Mt Moriah volunteers, Mt Moriah Church, Springwood House of Praise (in Australia) and the various JCI sponsors who gave of themselves to extend the love of Christ and support the families in need as a result of this crisis.
