JCI Mission Trip 2007 in Mission Trips
On our return from the January mission trip I am happy to greet you all with good reports of the continuing JCI ministry. On our arrival at Mt. Moriah. We a were warmly greeted by the JCI sponsored children and their mothers, as well as some of the JCI team. Special delicacies and a dance presentation had been prepared to welcome us. We were happy to see their smiling faces and I was pleased to hand them letters and gifts with greetings from their sponsors.
The following day some of the team and parents of sponsored kids came to prepare food ready for distribution at the graveyard. The weather was fine and we took balls and bubbles to entertain the children… We all met at Bagumbayan cemetery where some of these people live. The JCI team sang songs with the children, played games, bible stories and encouragement. About 150 children came and some parents too… They all enjoyed the food and were exited about the gifts brought from Australia. I heard one little boy say “ Mama, savon!” We have a big soap!, he exclaimed. I smiled and noted the appreciation of these poor people. When the big cardboard box was emptied a little lady came up smiling with no front teeth, and asked if she could have the box. Sure, I said as I gave it and watched her eagerly take it to the junk shop to get a few extra pesos! Even an old cardboard box will be used in this place!
Day one nearly over… Mission accomplished!
The following day we visited one of our sponsored children in a home for abused children where she has been cared for since she was sexually abused last year. She was very happy to see us and receive the gifts we brought from Australia. She is a beautiful 13 year old girl. We are praying she will be reunited with her mother again soon.
Sunday we enjoyed fellowship with the friendly family of Mt. Moriah Christian Hope community centre. In the evening I was honoured to share a word of encouragement with the congregation there.
So much more transpired in the days that followed as we attended Medical mission at the Women’s drug rehab centre, visited orphanages, attended the needy at the graveyard and encouraged the local people with Love and friendship.
Please join us on the 18th of March when we will hold a JCI presentation with videos pictures and testimonies to share with you the Joy of our experiences and bring the greetings of the sponsored children and their families.
Till then I pray the Lord will Bless YOU with His Love!
