I met Jhon recently on the mission. This young boy is blind therefore he doesnt go to school. if you would like to support Jhon and give him hope, please contact us… contact Sharon.

In January we learned the cancer had progressed up to her waist and affecting the liver.  We  could only offer pain reliever and palliative care. May God comfort her family in their grief.

The cancer is rapidly spreading through her whole body. Clowie is now admitted to the Philippine General Hospital to treat the cancer which is in the muscle. Sadly her condition  is critical. According to the doctors she only has 10 to 20% chance to live if she doesn’t receive treatment immediately.

Children in the graveyard.

Tom, Barbara and Eden from Australia joined the JCI team in June for their 6th mission trip. Feeding in the graveyard catered to near 200, mostly children. Even though it was very hot the people still came. Children laughed as they played the games, heard stories and danced as they sang songs together. Amie, Sula and the team of JCI mothers gave their time to prepare a nutritious lunch for the needy who live in and about the graveyard.

Nearby in Laura drive we offered a free medical clinic for 200 people. Many children with sores and open wounds were treated. Parents were grateful for antibiotics analgesics and Blood pressure pills. Efrim is a 7 year old boy who came along with a large growth on his eye. Rebecca took him to a hospital the next day for diagnosis. JCI will raise funds for his urgent operation. Many children went home happy as they hugged the teddy bears they were given.

Visiting all the homes of the JCI sponsored children, moved me to tears as I realised the conditions these dear ones live in. They were very happy that we came bearing gifts of rice, chocolate biscuits and soaps from Australia. Tom and Barbara and Eden were very happy to meet their sponsor child and the children also felt privileged to meet their sponsors.

Once again we came home motivated to promote the Joshua Care Mission so that more children like this can be blessed!!

Mary Grace Artillo caught our attention a few years ago as she tried to play with the children. Her wooden prosthetic was broken and it was hard for her to run! In April 2008 we were able to bring her to Australia to have the little piece of bone removed from the stump.

Dr. Paul Pincus was so kind to Mary Grace and the staff of the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane, were all very accommodating. Stuart Crampton at BPO.  made a new prosthesis for the little girl and she was so happy to go home with her new leg. Now she can run and play just like the other kids.. Thank you so much to all who contributed to this life changing deed.

Mary Grace is doing well and her fond memories of Australia will linger on for the rest of her life. All the toys and gifts she recieved are treasured items and her confidence has multiplied.

With the support of Joshua Care International and the Generosity of kind people at Kings church, Caloundra and Springwood House of Praise, Mary Grace is now in Australia, accompanied by Israel Forbes, the JCI coordinator, Philippines. Mary Grace has had her first assessment at Brisbane Prosthetics & Orthotics, where Stuart Crampton will create her new prosthetic leg. Unfortunately it was noted she has some bone protruding thru the skin and this will require an operation. Mary Grace has been seen by Dr Pincus at the Wesley Hospital and he is kindly arranging the operation.

Meanwhile, Mary Grace has enjoyed meeting her sponsors and was very excited to see the Kangaroos and Koala’s at Dreamworld.

A Gospel Concert “Steps of Grace”, has been organised for the 16th of May 2008 @ 7pm at the Springwood House of Praise, to help raise the extra funds required for her operation.

The food was good and plentiful, Thanks to Robert and the team at Chin Chin Restaurant at Springwood Towers. Musicians sang beautifully as they introduced us to the sounds of Christmas for 2007…Thanks to Rebecca and her friends from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. It was a pleasure to introduce Joshua Care and the work that we do, to a new audience of people from the community.

We are happy to welcome the new sponsors and we know those children will be very happy to hear they are also now one of the JCI sponsored kids! We will be going to the Philippines next month and the money raised at the dinner will help us to buy medicines and food for the people in the graveyard and beyond…Thank you!

I am happy to report, that Joshua Care Continues to grow, now sponsoring 35 children and increasing the number of feeding programs each month.

Pastor Bhal Tatlonghari, (director of the JCI Philippines) and Israel (JCI Phil. Coordinator) were both sponsored to visit Australia in June. During their visit, they were greatly Blessed in the fellowship of Springwood House of Praise and they were happy to meet new friends at the Greek church. Hillsong conference in Sydney, was a great inspiration and they both frequently expressed their appreciation of this wonderful experience. Bhal was able to visit his brother in Melbourne and Israel gained more insight into children’s ministry at Kidshaper conference in Melbourne.

They were both very happy to meet many of the sponsors who support the JCI Children and are now sharing pictures and stories of their Australian friends with all the JCI families back home in Manila.

The JOSHUA CARE childen are preparing a special concert in anticipation of our next mission trip in January. And we are excited to hear that Ps. Jim Williams(advisor to JCI) will also join us in Manila for a week.
